Court grants bail to Mohammed Muzammil

Media Spokesman of the NFF, Mohammed Muzammil, who was arrested by the Financial Crime Investigation Division (FCID), has been granted bail, Ada Derana reporter said. 


The former MP was released on a cash bail of Rs.25,000 and two personal bails of Rs.1 million each after being produced before the Fort Magistrate. 


Mohammed Muzammil was arrested as he arrived at the FCID to give a statement on 20 June.  The arrest was made in connection with an investigation on the misuse of vehicles belonging to the Presidential Secretariat Office.


The FCID informed the court that the MP in question has failed to hand over a vehicle belonging to the Presidential Secretariat Office following his election defeat in 2010 and allegedly depositing funds amounting to Rs.6.2 million in her wife’s bank accounts that obtained from the State Engineering Corporation  to purchase an official vehicle.
