JO threatens to move motion of no confidence against the Speaker

A motion of no confidence will be filed against the Speaker if he signs the Draft Bill on the Office of Missing Persons, the Joint Opposition announced.

 


Pivithuru Hela Urumaya leader MP Udaya Gammanpila made the observation at a press conference held in Colombo this afternoon (18).

 


He went on to say a letter has also been submitted to the Speaker against the manner in which the Draft Bill was passed in the Parliament without a vote.

 


Gammanpila pointed out the Draft Bill is legally null since it was passed in the Parliament without due procedure.

 


“He would not intend to sign the Draft Bill, if he truly loves the country since he even wears a national flag pin on his dress,” he added.
