Sri Lanka’s Cabinet of Ministers has approved a proposal to standardize the addressing of the Sri Lanka Police Department and to use ‘Sri Lanka Police’ as its standard name.

The Police Department celebrates its 150th anniversary this year and it has been considered to adopt a standard name for the police.
Considering the above fact, the proposal made by Minister of Law and Order and Southern Development, Sagala Ratnayake, to use ‘Sri Lanka Police’ as its standard name, was approved by the Cabinet of Ministers, a statement said.
