An immigration fraudster living in Hounslow has been jailed after he was caught using a fake passport to apply for a job.

Mohamed Buruhan came to the UK from Sri Lanka and his student visa had expired when he was caught using the false Italian ID.

The 29-year-old was arrested in June when his home in Staines Road, Hounslow, was searched and the fake passport was found.

He was also discovered to have used a counterfeit visa document to obtain employment.

He appeared at Isleworth Crown Court on Tuesday (August 30), where he admitted three counts of possession of false documents with improper intent and two counts of fraud by false representation.

He was sentenced to 14 months in prison, and the court recommended that he be deported on completion of his sentence.

Assistant director Chris Edwards, head of the West London Immigration Enforcement team, said: “This case shows a deliberate and determined attempt to undermine the UK’s immigration rules.

“Those who try to abuse the system by using forged and counterfeit documents to find work should know that they will be found and brought to justice.” -Agencies
