Ada Derana wins Sustainable Development Award

Ada Derana was today awarded the Global Understanding for Sustainable Development Award for 2016 for its successful implementation and promotion of the most comprehensive 24 x 7 news portal in Sri Lanka.

 

 

 

The Award was presented at the United Nations International Peace Day Ceremony held today(21) at the National Museum Auditorium presided over by the Sumedha G.Jayasena, Deputy Minister of Sustainable Development &Wildlife.

 

 

 

The award is conferred by the India-Sri Lanka Youth Exchange in association with the Sri Lanka – United Nations Friendship Organisation.

 

 

 

News and media, especially online forms of news dissemination, are deemed crucial by many researchers in the attainment of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals set by the United Nations in September 2015. In this regard Ada Derana was recognised as one of the premier news providers in Sri Lanka with its 24 x 7 online tri-lingual news portal www.adaderana.lk

 

 

 

Ada Derana has previously been awarded the prestigious Manthan Award South Asia 2010 in the e-News & Media category. Ada Derana has also been recognised by the ICTA as the Best e-Content application among e-News providers in Sri Lanka by winning the e-Swabhimani award for news in 2010.
