Suspect throws hand grenade at police in Athurugiriya

An investigation is underway to apprehend an individual who alleged to have thrown a hand grenade at police during a raid in Athurugiriya, an official said.
The incident transpired when a policemen team had attempted to arrest the suspect at his residence in Seevali Mawatha in Athurugiriya this morning.
No casualties were reported following the incident. However, police believe that the suspect may have injured as they had fired back at him in response to grenade attack.
The suspect is on the run and a manhunt is underway to locate him, the official added.
