Two Sri Lankans drown in rough seas at Dubai beach

Dubai Police have confirmed that three people including two Lankans have died in rough seas at the weekend at Umm Suqeim beach near Burj Al Arab.


Officials from Dubai Police said that they tried to rescue three people from drowning. The victims, two people from Sri Lanka and the third from India, were drowned in separate incidents, despite warnings from the authorities telling residents to stay out of unusually rough seas.


However, also , a 24-year-old Egyptian man was rescued after he and his friend got into difficulty in the water off Al Khan beach in Sharjah. His friend, a Somalian in his 20s, was later found dead.
