Road blocked due to estate worker protest

The road from Lotus Roundabout to the Presidential Secretariat, Colombo Fort has been blocked due to a protest march, the Ada Derana reporter confirmed. 

 

The protest is conducted by estate workers who are demanding a further wage hike.

 

The protest march, demanding that the daily wage of estate workers be increased to Rs 1,000, commenced from Colombo Fort and is heading towards the Presidential Secretariat.

 

This has resulted in severe traffic congestion in the area.

 

They are expected to hand over a letter to the Presidential Secretariat.
