On day two of the BRICS Summit 2016 in Goa, leaders of the member states will hold a plenary summit, where they are likely to issue a joint declaration after the meeting.
The BRICS business council meeting is also scheduled to take place today. Later in the day, the BRICS-BIMSTEC outreach summit will be held where Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hold talks with invited representatives of the BIMSTEC states – Sri Lanka and Bhutan.
The other nations invited to the BRICS Summit are Bangladesh, Myanmar, Nepal and Thailand. Meetings between representatives of these nations will also take place today. The Summit helps member nations of BIMSTEC – Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation – in its outreach with BRICS nations. BIMSTEC was launched in 1997.
