The Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) on Sunday slammed the President in connection with a statement he had made on summoning former military heads before the courts recently.
The observation was made by JVP MP and party propaganda Secretary Vijitha Herath while speaking at a press conference held in Colombo this afternoon (16).
“In a time where action should be taken against the Rajapaksa clan who attempts to cover up their wrongdoings by using military forces as a shield, President Sirisena did the opposite,” he added.
Herath also questioned the decision to auction a land and a house in Malwana after former minister Basil Rajapaksa and its registered owner had denied ownership of the property.
“This is like a thief who steals a bunch of bananas saying that he is not a thief and someone came and hanged it on his neck. So the court orders to acquit the man and to auction the seized item,” Herath said.
