Sarath Kumara Gunaratne granted bail

Former Deputy Minister Sarath Kumara Gunaratne, who was arrested following an accident in 2002, has been granted bail, Ada Derana reporter said.


The former Deputy Minister was enlarged on a cash bail of Rs.50,000 and two personal bails of Rs.500,000 each after a bail application filed at the Negombo High Court this morning (07). 


Gunaratne had been charged in connection with an accident which resulted in the death of a UNP supporter and injured another, on their way to a rally in Negombo in 2002.  He had surrendered to Negombo Police though an attorney on October 24.


Gunaratne will also be produced before the Negombo Magistrate tomorrow.
