Probe launched after engineer sits on Speaker’s chair

An investigation has been launched regarding an engineer who allegedly sat on the chair of the Speaker of Parliament in the chamber.
UNP MP Ranjith Aluwihare had complained to the Speaker that the engineer in question, who is a member of the parliament staff, had sat on the Speaker’s chair a short while after Parliament was adjourned on Wednesday (16).
Based on this complaint, Speaker Karu Jayasuriya today instructed the General Secretary of Parliament to look into this matter.
