A report prepared by the committee appointed by the SLFP Central Committee to scrutinize the Central Bank bonds scam will be submitted to the President within next few days, State Minister Lakshman Yapa Abeywardena says.

He made the observation while speaking at a press conference held in Colombo on Tuesday (22).

“It was expected to conclude this report within 15 days, but it only took six days,”

Yapa also went on to say six recommendations have been recognized by the committee with respect of the issue, and the final report would be handed over to the Attorney General’s Department through either President Maithripala Sirisena or Speaker Karu Jayasuriya.

“The committee’s sole purposes were to retrieve the money and to punish the offenders,” Yapa said.

While responding to a question, he also pointed out the commemoration of the Tamil Tiger rebels killed during the three-decade long war would not be allowed, however it is a democratic right of everyone to pay tribute to their lost loved ones.

He also warned the media not to ‘mislead’ people on such commemorations.
