SLTB workers’ leave cancelled for a week

Steps have been taken to temporarily cancel the leave of drivers, conductors, and technical staff of the SLTB for a week starting from tomorrow (01), a Minister said on Wednesday.
Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation Nimal Siripala De Silva said the Ministry has also made arrangements to deploy extra SLTB bus, and train services for the convenience of the passengers.
Accordingly, the fleet of buses will be increased up to 6,000 from current the number of 5,250 and the service of drivers and conductors who are on leave will also be obtained.
The private bus unions and several railway unions have decided to resort to an islandwide strike from midnight 01 December.
