President Sirisena leaves for Malaysia

President Maithripala Sirisena left the country for Malaysia this morning to engage in an official three-day state visit, the President’s Media Division said.
Sirisena is scheduled to stay in Malaysia from Dec 15 to 17, following an invitation by the Malaysian government.
The three-day visit will be the president’s inaugural visit to Malaysia since assuming the post in January last year.
He is expected to sign a number of agreements with the Malaysian Government on tourism, training and cooperation, plantations, culture, arts and heritage and youth development.
Sirisena will open a Business Forum to promote trade, investment, tourism and foreign employment between Sri Lanka and Malaysia in Kuala Lumpur today (15).
He will also launch celebrations to mark the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries and is scheduled to open a Sri Lanka cultural and food festival in the evening at the Intercontinental Hotel in the Malaysian capital.
