JVP to keep a close eye on bond scam probe

It is suspicious whether the government is eyeing to protect the wrongdoers in the treasury bond scam, the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) asserts on Monday.
Committee on Public Enterprises (COPE) Chairman and JVP MP Sunil Handunnetti made the observation while speaking at a press conference held in Battaramulla.
Handunnetti also slammed the government over its failure to hold a Parliamentary debate in this regard yet.
“The COPE report now belongs to the Parliament. Thus, it is its responsibility to use a mechanism to implement the recommendations of the COPE report and as well as the Auditor General’s Department report,” he said.
