The 26-year-old youth who was arrested for allegedly issuing death threats to the President, Prime Minister and Opposition Leader on Facebook has been released on bail by the Colombo Magistrate’s Court.  

 

He was ordered released on two personal bails of Rs 100,000 each by the Colombo Additional Magistrate Aruni Atigala.

 

The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) had raised objections against the bail application filed on behalf of the defendant, stating that further reinvestigations are being carried out regarding the suspect. 

 

However, the court ordered the youth’s release on bail while the case was postponed to January 13.
