23-year-old nabbed with counterfeit notes worth Rs.2.9 million

A 23-year-old youth was arrested in Horana after being found possessing counterfeit notes worth over Rs. 2.9 million, police said.

 


The suspect was apprehended following a raid carried out in Moragahahena, Horana on Sunday afternoon.

 


According to police, 106 counterfeit notes of the Rs. 5,000, 1830 fake notes of the Rs. 1,000, and 1079 fake notes of the Rs. 500 have been found.
 

 

The police have also seized a computer, a scanner and a printer during the raid.

 


The youth will be produced before the Horana Magistrate’s Court tomorrow.
