
The University of Ruhuna will re commence its lectures in three of its faculties situated in the Wallamadama area, which were closed temporarily.
The Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Gamini Senanayake, stated that the students will be able to move into the accommodation provided by the 19 of this month.
The faculties, which included the Faculty of Technology, the Faculty of Science and the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Science will be in operation from the 20 February 2017, sources reveal.
He further added that a date for the commencement of study in the Faculty of Humanities and Sociology as well as the Faculty of Management and Finance, has not been set, as of yet.
Sources reveal that the cause behind the temporary closure of the university was due to the tensions that arose between the locals and the students at the faculties located in Wallamadama.
