Actor and activist, Ashton Kutcher, went before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee on Wednesday, in an effort to end human trafficking and modern slavery.
The hearing was to discuss efforts the United States is making to end human trafficking on a global scale.

Kutcher is the co-founder of the Thorn organization, a group that partners with law enforcement to use a computer program to combat modern slavery and protect people around the world.

The activist became emotional when discussing some of the situations he’s witnessed.

“I’ve seen video content of a child that’s the same age as mine, being raped by an American man that was a sex tourist in Cambodia,” Kutcher said. “This child was so conditioned by her environment that she thought she was engaging in play.”

Arizona Senator, John McCain was at Wednesday’s hearing and thanked Kutcher for his attendance and efforts to fight human trafficking, but not without poking a little fun at the comedy actor.

McCain said, “Ashton, you’re better looking in the movies.” Kutcher responded by jokingly blowing McCain a kiss.

Wednesday’s hearing comes before the END IT 2017’s movements annual Shine Light on Slavery Day, which will happen on Feb. 23. You can participate by drawing a red X on your hand, taking a picture of it and posting the image to social media using the hashtag, #enditmovement.
