Minister Faiszer all praise for AP’s smart city initiatives

Sri Lankan Minister for Local Government and Provincial Councils Faiszer Musthapha has lauded people’s participation in deciding priorities for smart city projects and development in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. 

 

He has praised the vision for development of the State and termed the city of Visakhapatnam beautiful.

 

He led a team to the city following a visit by an Indian delegation to Colombo. The Lankan team was in Visakhapatnam to study the process of selecting smart city projects.

 

Evincing interest in various initiatives, Mr. Musthapha asked details about pollution and preventive measures taken, drinking water supply, public- private partnership and dry and wet waste collection.

 

District Collector and GVMC Special Officer Pravin Kumar spoke on priorities of smart city projects including development of the beach front, command and control centre, area-based development and pan-city initiative.

 

He said the city got international recognition following installation of one lakh LED lights after cyclone Hudhud resulting in energy conservation.

 

Municipal Commissioner M. Hari Narayanan gave details of the Swachh Bharat Mission, Swachh Survekshan and waste collection from the doorsteps of residents and the working of Command and Control Centre.
