The Secretary of Socialist People’s Front Monday charged that the government has failed to uphold law and order in the country.
Raja Kollure, General Secretary of Socialist People’s Front made the observation while speaking to reporters at a press conference held in Colombo.
Citing the recent incidents of shooting happened in Kalutara and fully loaded weapons found from a court in Mt. Lavinia, Kollure went on to say a move is underway to threaten the judicial system of the country as well.
“If the relevant minister is unable to handle the situation, someone else should take over his post,” he said.
Meanwhile, leader of Democratic Left Front (DLF) MP Vasudeva Nanayakkara while speaking at the press conference accused the government of eyeing to privatize five major state institutions including the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation and the Ceylon Electricity Board.
“The government has already come to an agreement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in this regard,” he added.
