An individual believed to have been running a large scale fuel racket illegally, in the Biyagama area has been arrested by the police after a raid carried out by the Walana Anti Vice Squad, police said.
The suspect is believed to be a resident from the Heiyanthuduwa area.
The raid revealed that the individual had been collecting and storing the fuel, without a authorized license, police said.
The raid revealed, two 6730 liter Diesel bowsers, a fuel dispenser with ammeter, along with 175 liters of Petrol and a pump to extract Diesel from its artificial reserves, which have all been taken into police custody.
Further investigations into the matter have gotten underway.
Police reveal that the suspect will be presented to the Mahara Magistrate’s Court later today (9).
