Man arrested for obstructing the duty of two wildlife officials

An individual was arrested on the allegation of obstructing the duty of two wildlife officials, police said.


According to police, the person has also been charged with assaulting the officials during a raid in Dharmapuram last evening (01).


The raid was carried out to apprehend a group of persons involved in illegal sand mining. The suspect had allegedly obstructed the duty of the officials in his attempt to rescue several individuals who had been nabbed during the raid.


The police say they have also arrested two men who were among the group of illegal sand miners.  


The suspects will be produced before the Kilinochchi Magistrate’s Court today.
