A final decision will be made about the SAITM issue at the central committee meeting tomorrow (09), Government Medical Officers’ Association (GMOA) says.
The GMOA stated this at a press conference held today (08) in order to discuss the plans of certain state parties to do away with trade unions.
When the symbolic strike held on the 05 ended in such success, the GMOA questioned whether the ministers called it a failure because it was conducted without sacrificing the lives of a large number of human beings.
They stated that members of 112 branches across the island would be gathering for the central committee meeting tomorrow (09), where many important decisions would be made in order to conduct a continuous strike in near future.
Meanwhile, the GMOA also said that they heavily condemned the threat-filled speech made by Minister Dr. Rajitha Senaratne.
They added that they had made a written request from the President and Prime Minister, requesting the Minister of Labour and Trade Union Relations to safeguard the rights of the working force.
