NPC member M.K. Sivajilingam is acting in a racist manner in order to boost his popularity and voter base, President of the SLFP Youth Front, Shantha Bandara says.
He said this at the Sri Lanka Freedom Party Youth Front press conference held in Colombo today (19).
Shantha Bandara stated that at a time where the government including the President and the Prime Minister was working diligently to promote peace and harmony, Sivajilingam was trying to stir up the hot coals hiding beneath the ashes and create a favourable situation for the international forces and the diaspora.
He added that if Sivajilingam truly wanted to serve the people of the North, he would step forward to provide the necessary facilities for them.
Bandara also stated that as someone with a great responsibility, Chief Minister C.V. Vigneswaran should work in his complete capacity to serve the nation, and added that the Northern and Southern leaders both have a duty to serve the country in a significant capacity.
