Police officer shot while arresting ransom holder

A police officer in the Kegalle area has been shot while on duty. 

It has been reported that the officer had been on his way to arrest an individual who had demanded for a ransom value from a business man in the area, when the gun had been fired.  

The incident had occurred at around 9pm yesterday (24).

The injured police officer has been admitted to the Kegalle Base Hospital for treatment. 

The perpetrator who had tried to flee has also been arrested, and is currently receiving treatment at the Kegalle Base Hospital as well, under Police supervision.
