Relief efforts: Rs.100 million approved to buy vehicles, equipment

As available vehicles and equipment in local government agencies are inadequate for relief efforts, additional funds of Rs. 100 million has been approved for purchasing of vehicles and equipment to the Ministry of Provincial Councils and Local Government.
The Government Wednesday announced that many lives and properties were damaged due to recent floods and landslides and waste have been dumped in these areas and they should be removed with immediate effect.
Accordingly, a joint proposal made by Anura Priyadarshana Yapa, Minister of Disaster Management, and Faizer Mustafa, Minister of Provincial Councils and Local Government has been approved by the Cabinet of Ministers.
