The special commodity levy on imported wet fish has been reduced by Rs. 25 per kg, effective today (07), the Ministry of Finance announced.
Due to the reduction in the fisheries production as a result of the recent adverse weather conditions, the levy was reduced as a concession for local consumers.
Accordingly, the levy has been reduced from Rs. 75 to Rs. 50.
Sri Lanka imports about 2000 metric tonnes of wet fish per month.
