‘Poson’ Poya Day: 1.2 mil. pigrims in Anuradhapura and Mihintale

Approximately 1.2 million pilgrims have arrived at the Anuradhapura and Mihintale sacred sites in light of the ‘Poson’ Full Moon Poya Day.

The ‘Poson’ Committee stated that yet more pilgrims were expected to arrive today (09).

The Committee added that the necessary infrastructure facilities had been provided for the pilgrims.

Meanwhile, The Railway Department announced that a special train service had been implemented temporarily between Anuradhapura and Mihintale.

Accordingly, anyone with a train ticket with the destination cited as Anuradhapura, issued from any station across the island, can travel between Anuradhapura and Mihintale free-of-charge.

Passengers can also obtain a free ticket from the Anuradhapura Railway Station to travel between the two aforementioned destinations.
