Another suspect has been arrested for allegedly aiding and abetting the suspects involved in the shooting occurred in Piliyandala, police said.
The suspect was arrested near the Kekirawa bus station during a raid carried out last night. The person had allegedly assisted the suspects to buy motorbikes to carry out the offence, police added.
The suspect has been identified as a 49-year-old resident of Rambukkana. So far, police have apprehended six suspects on the allegation of aiding the suspects to commit the crime.
A police constable and a child were killed and four others injured in the shooting occurred near a state bank in Piliyandala on May 09. A group of unidentified persons who arrived in motorcycles had opened fire at the cops, it was reported.
