
The Secretary-General of the United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA), Minister Mahinda Amaraweera states that the new Elections Act is ready for submission during the next parliamentary session.
The necessary amendments to the act will reportedly be made following the submission, and any minor problems also discussed and solved.
He added that the recent floods and landslides posed as a hindrance to the oncoming elections, but that the situation had now returned to normalcy.
The Minister affirmed that the UPFA was amidst preparations for the upcoming Provincial Council and Pradeshiya Sabha elections, and added that the candidates from the UPFA had already been nominated.
Meanwhile, Minister Mahinda Amaraweera also proceeded to announce that preparations had been made to take disciplinary action against the party’s public representatives who violate the decisions taken collectively by the party.
