Dengue eradication becoming harder due to waste disposal - Perera

June 28, 2017   11:45 am

State Minister of National Policies and Economic Affairs, Niroshan Perera stated that each and every single individual should be responsible for keeping their home and work place environment clean in order to combat the spread of dengue.

He added that the dengue virus has been spreading through the population of the country without any hassle, and that the virus has been multiplying at an alarming rate.

He added that although is the responsibility of local authorities and other government institutions to combat dengue, the garbage problem that prevails has become a barrier to the process of dengue eradication.

Perera concluded by stating that the inability of the provincial council and local authorities to keep up with the waste supply has been hindering the eradication process, despite financial reforms provided by the central government, and that the central government should be held partly responsible for the issue.
