Cop sentenced to 7 years for soliciting bribe

A cop found guilty of soliciting a bribe from a person in connect to an abduction case was sentenced to 7-years in prison.

 


Colombo High Court Judge Piyasena Ranasinghe delivered the verdict when the case was taken up for hearing on Wednesday.

 


The accused who was a former OIC of the Chilaw police had been charged with four counts, Ada Derana reporter said.

 


The accused was sentenced to 7-years on each of the counts, but the sentences are to be served concurrently.
