The Inspector-General of Police (IGP) has submitted a report to the National Police Commission on the incident involving the use of force against university students during an anti-SAITM protest.
Secretary of the National Police Commission, Ariyadasa Cooray issued official confirmation that the report had been received by the Commission.
He proceeded to state that the report would be reviewed before the Commission on Thursday (06).
The Secretary also added that a future course of action would be decided following the report’s reviewing.
On June 21, a group of university students vandalized the Health Ministry following an anti-SAITM protest march, where Police used force to remove the students from the Ministry premises.
Over 80 students were injured and hospitalized as a result.
The National Police Commission called for a report from the IGP in light of the incident.
