
A physician attached to a government hospital in Kuliyapitiya has been arrested over an alleged bribery scheme.
The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption stated that the physician along with a radiologist attached to a private hospital was arrested in the morning today (03).
The physician was reportedly paid a sum of Rs. 25,000 per month from a private medical laboratory for accepting test reports issued by said laboratory.
According to the Bribery Commission, the arrest was made while the physician was being paid Rs. 75,000 via a hospital staff member for following the conditions of his agreement with the laboratory for a period of three months.
