A petition was filed and presented to the Supreme Court, regarding the decision made to transfer the National Lotteries Board (NLB) and the Development Lotteries Board (DLB).
Ada Derana Court correspondent stated that MP Bandula Gunawardena had filed this petition.
Prime Minister Ranil Wickramasinghe, Ravi Karunanayake and Mangala Samaraweera have been named as respondents of the petition.
The petitioner states that the President has appointed the National Lotteries Board and Development Lotteries Board under the Ministry of External Affairs, to be subjected to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in the recent cabinet reshuffle.
The petitioner went onto say that both the boards have been established under a common Parliamentary Act, and should rightfully be under the Ministry of Finance.
Hence a request has been made by the petitioner to the Supreme Court, to mark the transfer of the boards to the ministry of foreign affairs, illegal.
