Pt. Pedro shooting: Police deploy investigative team

A special team of Police personnel has been deployed from Colombo to investigate the shooting in Point Pedro.

 

Police Media Spokesperson, Superintendent of Police (SP) Ruwan Gunasekara stated that the team led by an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) had been dispatched to the scene of the crime from Colombo last night (09).

 

Police opened fire at a lorry carrying sand, which disobeyed their order to stop at Manalkadu, Point Pedro yesterday (09) afternoon.

 

One person was killed as a result of the incident, Police confirmed.

 

Following the incident, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Pujith Jayasundara issued orders to commence a comprehensive investigation into the incident immediately.
