
Minister of Primary Industries, Daya Gamage stated that a set retail price will be imposed on pepper, within the next two weeks.
Minister made these statements during a media briefing held by the National News department, today (14).
He added that once the suggestion receives cabinet approval, the ministry of finance will allocate the necessary funds for this purpose.
Gamage stated that they are working towards enhancing business in the rural parts of the country, so that progress is made in those sectors as well.
More than 1000 pepper farmers in the Ratnapura-Kolonna area engaged in a protest yesterday (13), blocking the Embilipitya-Ratnapura main road in the Godakawela area, where a tense situation erupted.
