Canals in Colombo to be cleaned up

Minister of Megapolis and Western Development Champika Ranawaka, stated that a program focusing on the cleaning of canals will commence tomorrow (22).
 
Ranawaka added that a holistic approach will be adopted when attending the problem, incorporating all entities willing to help out with the matter.  

The Ministry of Urban and Western Development stated that a cabinet sub-committee had appointed Minister Champika Ranawaka to be in charge of the cleaning process that has to be followed due to unauthorized garbage dumping practices being carried out around the city.

The Ministry further stated that due to the extensive cleaning practices adopted by the municipal councils, all unauthorized dumps of garbage around Colombo have been cleared up.
