Rs.10 million worth Walla Patta seized at BIA

Customs officials of the departure terminal at the Katunayake airport have seized 60kg of Walla Patta worth Rs. 10 million. 

Officials reported that three Sri Lankan passengers who claimed to be businessmen, had attempted to smuggle the stock to Dubai, early this morning (26). 

Further investigations are being carried out on the matter by the respective officials. 

Following the customs inquiry conducted by Deputy Director PJB Basnayake, penalties of Rs 200,000 were imposed for each passenger having forfeited the 60 kg of Walla Patta.
