President emphasized that the present government is giving priority to a program to improve the education of the children, while providing solutions to the problems people face on a daily base allowing them to improve their financial status. 

President Maithripala Sirisena made this remark at the unveiling ceremony of the new a Chaithiya at the Aralaganwila Sri Jethawanarama Temple yesterday (06). 

Furthermore he added that while the government is working towards helping the public experience the benefits of the country’s development, measures will be taken within the next three years to compensate for the unfair promises made with regard to development, by improving education and drinking water facilities in Polonnaruwa. 

Meanwhile, the President added that support will be provided to make village schools not merely a education center, but one that conveys strong religious values, to create a spiritually enriched society, in order to aid the country’s development.  

President also paid homage to the Chief Monk of the temple, Ven. Minneriya Subalankara Thero after attending a religious proceeding at the temple. 

President Sirisena also handed over the property deed of the land on which the Temple is located to Ven. Subalankara Thero, while planting a ‘Na’ plant to mark the President’s arrival at the temple.
