An accident on the Kurunegala – Dambulla road has claimed the lives of two individuals while critically injuring three more.
The head on collision which occurred earlier today (06), involved a tipper truck and motor vehicle travelling in opposite directions colliding.
All five individuals who were travelling in the motor vehicle were admitted to the Kurunegala Hospital, where two had later passed away.
The deceased have been identified as the female driver of the motor vehicle and a 96-year-old individual who had occupied the front passenger seat.
Police confirmed the deceased as residents of the Pannala - Ibbangamuwa area.
Kurunegala Police have arrested the driver of the tipper truck, while further investigations on the accident have currently gotten underway.
