State Minister of Finance, Lakshman Yapa Abeywardena stated that those who have been charged with accusations must take a decision on their own before a motion of no-confidence is brought forth.
He stated this upon attending a media briefing today (09).
The Minister proceeded to say that the decision must be taken on behalf of the Government, the two governing parties and all Sri Lankans at large, and added that if such a decision was not taken, the country would end up divided.
He also stated that President Maithripala Sirisena would make a due decision if the person in question fails to make a decision on his own, and added that the motion would by no means force the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLPF) to take any decision
Furthermore, he remarked that had single-party government been in power instead of the present government, the public would have had no freedom to reveal the perpetrators.
He also said that there were a great many things that should be done before a no-confidence motion is submitted, and added that the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) would decide the future course of action as a party, if the said steps were not taken appropriately.
