No-confidence motion supporters’ genuineness is questionable - Rambukwella
Mobitel Inner

Parliamentarian Keheliya Rambukwella states that one’s genuineness must be taken into account when they express their support for the no-confidence motion.

He stated this upon attending a press conference of the Joint Opposition (JO) earlier today (09).

The MP explained that although certain ministers representing the United National Party (UNP) had previously publicly extended support for the motion, yesterday (08) the same people had made statements claiming that there was a legal complication with the Leader of the House bringing forth the motion. He proceeded to point out that the incident was something to be ashamed of.

He also said that attempts were being made to prevent the submission of the no-confidence motion, in line with the tune of certain individuals who acted on various “signals”.

He stated that it was the duty of the Speaker of the Parliament to include the motion in the session’s agenda following its submission, and that if there were any problems pertaining to the no-confidence motion, such problems could then be addressed.

Regardless, he said, incidents such as this prove that the Government lacks discipline and values.
