Army absentees and deserters have reportedly secured employment in the private sector by providing false information.

Sri Lanka Army Headquarters stated this by issuing a statement to the media today (11).

Said absentees and deserters have been found to be employed at institutions and agencies belonging to the private sector.

According to the official Army statement, provision of employment to, or harbouring of, any Army absentee or deserter is a breach of Sri Lankan law, and is thus punishable by a court of law.
