
Four Indian fishermen have been arrested for illegally engaging in fishing activities in Sri Lankan waters.
Sri Lanka Navy reported that the fishermen had been arrested by officers attached to the Northern naval command, in the sea area 19 nautical miles away from Point Pedro.
A trawler belonging to the arrestees has also been taken into naval custody.
Sri Lanka Navy further stated that the suspects had been handed over to the Assistant Director of Fisheries in Jaffna for onward legal action.
