The Mawanella Police reported that a 24 year old resident of Kegalle has attempted to commit suicide after stabbing his 17 year old lover distraught over her resentment to elope with him. Reports confirm that the 24 year old had attempted to take his life by administering poison into his blood stream after murdering his lover.
It has been reported that the two were in a relationship from the time the young girl was 15 years old. As the young girl was under aged and could not legally marry the man he had sought foreign employment till she was of age.
Upon his return the young lover had an unfortunate confrontation with the family of the young girl late last night (15) causing him to stab his lover at her residence.
The suspect who administered poison into his blood stream is now receiving treatment at the Mawanella hospital.
