Indian External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj met President Maithripala Sirisena yesterday (1) to discuss bilateral issues of mutual collaboration. Swaraj, was in attendance at the 2nd Indian Ocean Conference, held at Temple Trees.
Several concerns that cropped up between countries of the South Asian region were addressed at the Indian Ocean Conference. Representatives from all several countries actively collaborated to formulate solutions that are beneficial to all countries.
Plans to improve economic collaboration between nations were also tabled. Proposals to improve inter-regional trade and naval collaboration were discussed.
Upon her visit, the Indian Minister of External affairs highlighted the strong relationship that existed between Sri Lanka and India from ancient times. She stated that both nations should work together to achieve developmental goals while maintaining a symbiotic relationship.
