The government has decided to felicitate the talents of renowned film directors including the legendry pioneer in authentic Sri Lankan cinema; Dr. Lester James Peiris, who immensely nurtured the cinema industry.
The felicitation will be held on September 18, at the Government Information Department.
In addition to Lester James Peiris, cinematographers such as Sugathapala Senarath Yapa, Tissa Liyanasooriya and Keerthi Sri Perera will be felicitated at this occasion.
Award winning documentaries produced by the Government Film Unit (GFU) will be handed over to the National Archives Department for the digitalization and preservation and film archives will be uploaded to the internet.
Health, Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine Minister Rajitha Senaratne and Finance and Media Deputy Minister Lasantha Alagiyawanne will be the chief guests of the occasion.
